Football Supporters Europe has written to FIFA president Gianni Infantino over 2026 World Cup ticketing, condemning steep prices for disabled fans and a requirement for personal assistants to pay.
According to L'Équipe, the three-page letter, sent on Tuesday on behalf of the Disability & Inclusion Fan Network, warns of a risk of exclusion amid controversy over dynamic pricing and the allocation for official supporters’ associations.
The letter cites accessible ticket prices of 140 to 450 dollars for group matches, equivalent to 118 to 383 euros. It contrasts this with major tournaments where wheelchair and accessible seats are usually placed in the cheapest category or discounted, starting from 10 euros in 2022.
FSE also criticises what it calls the first World Cup decision to charge companions. It argues many disabled supporters cannot attend without assistance, so charging an assistant effectively doubles the cost and risks shutting many out, amounting to an unjust tax.
The network urges FIFA to cut prices, restore free companion access, cap resale on the official platform, and engage with fan representatives. It also contrasts current policy with Infantino’s remarks in Qatar a little over three years ago, and says genuine inclusion requires practical steps that remove barriers rather than reinforce them.
