Fifa has imposed another transfer ban on Corinthians, blocking new registrations indefinitely until debts to other clubs are cleared.
According to Globo.com, the latest sanction stems from non-payment of a US$ 225,000 disciplinary fine tied to delays in three transfers. The fine relates to José Martínez of Philadelphia Union, Charles of Midtjylland, and Talles Magno of New York City FC.
The club prioritised paying player wages instead of settling the fine.
It is the second transfer ban in two months. The previous sanction concerned a US$ 1.5 million debt to Philadelphia Union from the 2024 signing of midfielder José Martínez.
The decision is another setback off the pitch. Corinthians are in talks with forward Wesley and midfielder Arthur this window and had relied on the first ban being lifted to advance those negotiations.
Strains have deepened, with two active bans and June image rights still unpaid for the first-team squad.
Fifa sanctions have become recurrent since mid last year, when registration blocks were triggered by debts around moves for Félix Torres and Maycon. The club has also faced a case over a breach of contract with midfielder Matías Rojas.
