FIFA said on Wednesday it had opened the final ticketing phase for the 2026 World Cup, with resale due to start on Thursday. The last-minute window went live at 17:00 French time on the official site.

Tickets are being sold on a first come, first served basis and sales will run until 19 July. This phase spans more than three million seats, part of nearly seven million available across 16 venues. The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July.

More than three million were allocated in the first three phases. FIFA expects to surpass the World Cup record of 3.5 million tickets sold, set in 1994.

Pricing has proved contentious, with the federation accused of charging exorbitant rates despite pledges made when the event was awarded to the United States, Mexico and Canada. Football Supporters Europe and Euroconsumers filed a complaint to the European Commission on 24 March alleging abuse of a dominant position.

FIFA has defended its pricing, citing exceptional demand. In December it introduced a $60 category for official supporters’ clubs, and its official resale and exchange portal has also drawn criticism over high listing prices.
