The United States have received a major boost ahead of their World Cup last-16 clash with Belgium after FIFA confirmed Folarin Balogun is available for selection.
The Monaco striker was initially expected to miss the tie after being shown a straight red card during the USA's 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the previous round. However, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has suspended the automatic one-match ban for a probationary period of one year under Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The decision means Balogun will be free to lead the line when Mauricio Pochettino's side face Belgium in Seattle on Tuesday morning (BST).
The 25-year-old has been one of the standout performers of the tournament, scoring three goals, including the opener against Bosnia before his dismissal.
His availability is a significant boost for the co-hosts as they look to reach the quarter-finals, with Balogun's pace, movement and finishing expected to play a key role against a Belgium side that dramatically eliminated Senegal in the last 32.
