Cardoso Varela has been named in João Brandão’s squad for FC Porto B against Lusitânia de Lourosa in Penafiel at 18:00 this afternoon. According to O Jogo, he will not be able to play.
FIFA has not yet validated his registration. There is no problem or obstacle involved, only the governing body’s timelines for cases concerning minors.
Fellow minor Eirik Granaas joined FC Porto before Varela’s return and only received FIFA clearance this morning.
For transfers involving minors, FIFA must verify several requirements, including parental signatures, school enrolment and a registered address.
The process is typically lengthy, and it is expected to be completed in time for Varela to be available for the second round of the II Liga.
