Matchday 6 of World Cup 26™ is done, so here is who performed best according to the official FIFA Power Rankings.
Attacking Impact: Kylian Mbappé
Two goals from four attempts and nine ball progressions in 90 minutes.
It's no wonder that Kylian Mbappé led the way for Attacking Impact in this game with a score of 9.1.
Creativity Influence: Michael Olise
Michael Olise was the creative heart for France, especially once coach Didier Deschamps made a tactical change at half time.
The Bayern Munich forward provided a brilliant assist, completed 15 midfield unit line breaks and scored 8.9.
Defending Influence: Dayot Upamecano
With 11 possession regains, four tackles won and two clearances in the defensive third, Dayot Upamecano was the clear leader in this category.
The France centre-back was exceptional and was more than worthy of his 7.8 score.
Attacking Impact: Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland scored twice on his World Cup™ debut to bag himself a score of 7.6.
The Norway forward was a constant threat and showed his clinical nature in front of goal with two typically excellent finishes.
Creativity Influence: Amir Al-Ammari
Always looking to advance his side up the pitch and completing 11 progressive passes, this was an excellent performance from Amir Al-Ammari.
His tournament debut was rounded off with an assist which secured a score of 8.1.
Defending Influence: Kristoffer Ajer
Kristoffer Ajer was crucial at the back as Norway only conceded once against an impressive Iraq attack.
Ajer completed four blocks, two interceptions and ultimately scored 7.3.
Attacking Impact: Lionel Messi
Who else could it be other than Lionel Messi?
The Argentina attacker scored a hat-trick from five attempts and bagged himself a score of 8.6.
Creativity Influence: Lionel Messi
The multiple player of the year was not just Argentina's best attacker but also their main creative outlet too.
Messi progressed the ball, broke defensive lines and scored 7.8.
Defending Influence: Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero was a major part of Argentina's clean sheet and earned himself a score of 7.84.
With seven possession regains and a 100% contest win rate, it's easy to see why the centre-back led this category.
Attacking Impact: Ali Olwan
Jordan forward Ali Olwan was the most threatening attacking player from either side with a score of 9.0.
Four attempts from open play, two on target and one game-state changing action saw Olwan come out on top.
Creativity Influence: Noor Alrawabdeh
Another Jordan star who impressed today was Noor Alrawabdeh.
His ability to play progressive passes, find his team mates in the final third and complete line breaks was the reason for his score of 7.7.
Defending Influence: Xaver Schlager
With 11 possession regains, one duel won and seven defensive actions completed in the defensive third, it's no surprise that Xaver Schlager led the way.
His score of 7.9 saw the Austrian defender well clear of his nearest defensive challenger.
At the FIFA World Cup 2026™, FIFA launched a new individual player ranking system based on data collected during matches. The FIFA Power Rankings provide objective, data-driven insight into player performance.
All outfield players will receive a score between 0-10 in three categories (attacking, creativity and defending). Goalkeepers will be scored in two categories: in possession and defending the goal. A ‘Power Ranking Classification’ will be produced after each match round, showing the top 100 players in each category. The Power Ranking is considered as a measure of match and tournament performance: each player receives a score for each match and for their overall performance in the tournament.
