📈 Fifa rankings have a NEW leader; Brazil drop a place

The latest FIFA international window brought changes to the hierarchy of world football.

In the update finalized this Wednesday (1), France took outright first place in the FIFA ranking, moving up two spots.

The French capitalized on their wins over Brazil and Colombia, combined with Spain’s slip-up, as they drew with Egypt and lost the top spot.

Argentina, meanwhile, dropped one place and completed the podium of the three best national teams on the planet, according to the FIFA ranking.

Brazil, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, finished the friendly window in sixth place.

The result represents a drop of one position compared to November 2025.

The situation, however, could have been worse.

After the loss to France last week, Brazil temporarily fell to seventh place, as the updates are now made in real time.

A crucial 3-1 win over Croatia, combined with the Netherlands’ draw against Ecuador, secured their return to sixth place.

Other notable moves:

Argentina drops to 3rd: Despite beating Mauritania and Zambia, the reigning world champions earned few points because of their opponents’ modest ranking, and were therefore overtaken by France.
Portugal in the Top 5: With a draw against Mexico and a win over the USA, the Portuguese national team shot up and entered the fiercely contested group of the five best.
