FIFA’s latest snapshot shows a record summer for international transfers across men’s and women’s football after the 2026 World Cup.

The women’s game also set new marks, with 1,406 international transfers. Spending climbed to $28.6 million, more than double 2025 levels, underlining rapid growth.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America acted as a catalyst. In total, 267 players from 47 nationalities who featured at the tournament changed clubs, accounting for more than $3.3 billion in fees.

English clubs led men’s spending with $3.02 billion and completed the highest number of incoming signings. Italy followed on $1.1 billion, while French clubs received $1.7 billion in outgoing fees.

In the women’s market, English clubs topped spending with $8.0 million, ahead of Spain and Germany. Swedish sides were the biggest sellers, banking $4.2 million, ahead of English and French teams.
