Flamengo remain in an uncertain start to the season amid a congested schedule. After the 3-0 win over Madureira, coach Filipe Luís said the current side differs from the 2025 group, speaking in the wake of supporter criticism.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he noted the team is not the same as in 2025 after losing some pillars. With Lucas Paquetá arriving, he said he is working hard to find the best solutions. He added that football must reinvent itself every day and that he is always studying to improve.

The club moved on several players at the start of the campaign. Matheus Cunha joined Cruzeiro on a free, and Matías Viña was loaned to River Plate of Argentina until the end of the Argentine championship.

Allan was loaned to Corinthians until the end of the season, Michael had his contract terminated before joining Al Ula of Saudi Arabia, and Juninho transferred to Pumas of Mexico.

On the incoming side, Flamengo signed three players. Defender Vitão arrived from Internacional, goalkeeper Andrew came from Gil Vicente of Portugal, and Lucas Paquetá became the third addition.

Flamengo now prepare to face Lanús of Argentina on Thursday 26 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã in the Recopa second leg.
