Filipe Luís explains Arrascaeta and Jorginho absences for Flamengo’s derby with Vasco | OneFootball

Flamengo face Vasco at the Maracanã on Wednesday at 21:30 Brasília time, with Arrascaeta and Jorginho missing from the squad after head coach Filipe Luís addressed their absence before kick-off.

"Jorginho had a wisdom tooth removed, and Arrascaeta is not in condition to play," said Filipe Luís. He told GETV on YouTube.

Without the pair, Flamengo go into the derby with their senior side, making their first appearance of the season after the under-20s had featured in the Campeonato Carioca.

"It is always challenging to play a derby. These are very demanding games, especially against Fernando Diniz teams, which are always very complicated and take you to your limit. The players, without doubt, will need to make an important effort to win, because we are here at the Maracanã, in front of our supporters. We want to play a great game," the Flamengo coach said.

The match counts for the third round of the Campeonato Carioca.
