Flamengo’s uneasy start to the year has intensified after defeats in the Supercopa do Brasil and Recopa Sul-Americana, with players complaining about head coach Filipe Luís over a lack of dialogue, according to GE.

The group’s main gripe is communication, which they feel is largely confined to leaders Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique, Danilo, Jorginho, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro.

Filipe Luís is still regarded as in control of the dressing room, but the mood behind the scenes is strained. Internally, his post-match assertion that the team had played a great game in the defeat to Lanús of Argentina on Thursday 26, in the Recopa Sul-Americana decider, did not go down well.

He also tends not to rehearse a set starting line-up, revealing the team only in the pre-match talk. For the Recopa final at the Maracanã, players were informed of the formation moments before the warm-up.

There is little time to reset as the season continues. Flamengo face Madureira at the Maracanã on Monday, the second game of the Campeonato Carioca semi-final.
