Filipe Luís guided Monaco to a 2-1 comeback win at PSG on Friday, then said he is backing Flamengo to reach another Club World Cup final for a shot at revenge.

The result in Paris came in round three of the French league, with Monaco turning it around after falling behind.

“I have many friends there, I have huge affection, everyone knows it. I have said it a million times. I am cheering hard for Flamengo to reach another Club World Cup final to have the rematch. I love the people at Flamengo and I have wonderful memories,” said Filipe Luís, speaking to CazéTV.

“It was seven incredible years and the opportunity they gave me to lead that project for one year is what brought me here. I am very grateful to everyone and I want Flamengo to be champions always.”

In December last year, Flamengo, then coached by Filipe Luís, drew 1-1 over 120 minutes in the world final and lost on penalties to the French.

With PSG winning the Champions League again, they are already in this year’s tournament. Flamengo must win the Copa Libertadores to qualify, and under Leonardo Jardim they are in the quarter-finals against Independiente del Valle.
