Flamengo head coach Filipe Luís has provided an update on Jorginho’s fitness and set out recruitment priorities as the club prepare for a crowded 2026 campaign. According to Coluna Do Fla, he also addressed the squad’s conditioning and the need for balance.

Jorginho is recovering from a left thigh injury and was left out of the squad to face Lanús in the Recopa Sudamericana. The Italo-Brazilian midfielder has not featured since the Supercopa do Brasil final on the first of February.

Filipe Luís said that over a long season some players inevitably dip physically, adding that Jorginho will need to build up his training load. He noted that some team-mates take longer to be ready while others are at their peak, and stressed the search for equilibrium in arrivals and departures.

Flamengo remain in the market for a centre-forward, with bids for Taty Castellanos of Lazio and Kaio Jorge of Cruzeiro rejected. The aim is to complement an already strong squad and keep it as competitive as possible.

While recruitment stays on the agenda, attention now turns to the Recopa, with Flamengo visiting Lanús on Thursday 19.
