The Finalissima between Copa América winners Argentina and European champions Spain is being lined up for March, with formal confirmation still awaited from UEFA. According to SuperDepor.com, Real Federación Española de Fútbol president Rafael Louzán has said an agreement with UEFA is in place and the parties are awaiting the official communication.

The showpiece returned in 2022, when Argentina beat Italy 3-0 at Wembley. Since then, Conmebol and UEFA have worked together to keep the champions’ clash on the international calendar.

While venue and kick-off have not been announced, it has emerged the game could take place on 27 March, with Qatar viewed as a tentative host.

If confirmed, it would extend a competition Argentina have lifted twice.

They defeated Denmark in 1993 and Italy in 2022.
