The Hammers are set for a summer of change under their new majority shareholder.

There have been many concerns around West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League and allegations surrounding David Sullivan, but there promises to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

The Hammers are expected to lose several key players following their demotion from the top tier, with Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen heavily linked with the exit door, but that was inevitable.

While Sullivan has stepped down from his roles as joint-chair and director of the club, there has been news that Daniel Křetínský will increase his share to become the majority shareholder.

But what will it mean for the East London club's finances this summer? While there will inevitably be departures, it does not seem that all will be bad at the London Stadium.

With Křetínský to increase his stake in West Ham from 27 per cent to 43 per cent, many have been wondering what it will mean for the club's summer transfer business.

The Hammers return to the Championship with the most talented squad, but come the end of August, Nuno Espírito Santo's starting lineup will likely look very different to the one that battered Leeds United on the final day of the Premier League season.

Wolves have made the headlines of late with landmark deals for Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez catching the eye and putting them in a strong position for promotion despite their unexpected managerial change.

Now, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has provided insight on what the Irons could do under their new majority shareholder when speaking on talkSPORT.

"They're going to have to use the exit door in terms of signings as well, there's no doubt about that, but they've got the physical cash now because Daniel Křetínský independently is wealthy," said Maguire.

"He has indicated that he's willing to provide, through his company 1890s Holdings, further funds, and I think that was the major concern for West Ham fans, so that will be good.

"So, yes, I expect them to be competitive in the summer. Yes, they're certainly going to lose some of their better players, but that's always the case when a major club is relegated."

What will the Hammers' transfer approach be this summer?

Poor recruitment has played a major part in getting West Ham to this point, and they will be looking to tear up their typical approach as they aim for an instant return to the Premier League.

The first thing that the Irons must do is generate significant funds from their prized assets, with Fernandes expected to yield the highest transfer fee, with reports suggesting the club are looking to make up to £80million from his departure.

If Bowen also departs, then the Hammers would likely make well over £100m from those two sales alone, and that would help them significantly in the transfer market.

West Ham will surely be looking to change their approach this summer and bring in a host of players for reduced fees rather than overspend on individual players.

Football League World exclusively revealed that the Hammers have joined Wrexham in the race for Swansea City midfielder Ethan Galbraith, and he would surely be viewed as a direct replacement for Fernandes.

Judging from the players that the East Londoners have been linked with, it is clear that their priorities have shifted and supporters will certainly be less familiar with whoever walks through the London Stadium doors this summer.

However, with Kretinsky in power, it seems that the club are in safe hands, and it will not all be about outgoings in East London.
