Mainz 05’s Finn Dahmen is on the verge of joining FC Augsburg, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The 25-year-old goal-stopper has completed his medical with Augsburg and will sign a contract until 2026 with an extra one year extension.
Dahmen and Augsburg are discussing the fine details of his contract before finally putting pen to paper.
Dahmen has played second fiddle behind Robin Zentner this season. The former German U21 international played eight Bundesliga and two DFB Pokal matches this campaign. However, he did get a run of games towards the end of the 2022/23 season including participating in the club’s dramatic 2-2 against Borussia Dortmund on the last day.
At Augsburg, Dahmen will join fellow goalkeepers Rafał Gikiewicz (35) and Tomáš Koubek (30). Joining as the youngest, there will be an opportunity for Dahmen to become the club’s future number one in the not too distant future.
