Fiorentina staged emotional tributes to President Rocco Commisso at the Stadio Artemio Franchi today.
According to Football Italia, Commisso died last week after a long illness, with a funeral in New York and a mass in Florence set for Monday.
The visit of Cagliari was Fiorentina’s first home match since his passing, and the club used it to honour their patron.
The team wore special shirts bearing his initials, RBC, placed beside the club badge.
A large centre-circle banner showed artwork of Commisso blowing kisses to the crowd before kick-off. Youth academy players stood around it holding white roses.
A stadium video recalled his time in charge, focusing on the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Viola Park training centre, his greatest gift to the team’s future.
