According to Le Progres, Fiorentina have sacked Fabio Grosso this weekend after a third consecutive Serie A defeat against Torino, his fourth loss in all competitions, with the only victory coming in the Coppa Italia.

His stint at Fiorentina proved even shorter than at Lyon, where he lasted seven matches after replacing Laurent Blanc. With just one win and the team bottom of Ligue 1, he was dismissed in late November by John Textor, who then turned to Pierre Sage and saw an upturn on the pitch.

Two years ago, Grosso nearly lost the sight in one eye during a stormy trip to Marseille, an incident that led to the postponement of Marseille v Lyon.

Back in Italy, he guided Sassuolo to promotion to Serie A in the summer of 2025, having achieved the same with Frosinone two years earlier.

This summer, the 2006 World Cup winner was recruited by Fiorentina, a storied Calcio club that had been losing momentum in recent years.
