Jamal Musiala is back with the German national team – and you can tell how much the Bayern star has missed this moment. After a long period of suffering with serious injuries and several setbacks, the 23-year-old is looking forward to the 2026 World Cup with great anticipation

Last year was anything but easy for Musiala. The serious injury at the 2025 Club World Cup set the attacking player back a long way. Although he celebrated his comeback at FC Bayern in recent months, he still had to deal with a number of minor setbacks on his way back

The joy of his return to the DFB team is all the greater now. During the first training sessions in Herzogenaurach, Musiala appeared committed, eager to play and in a great mood. The relief was also clearly noticeable at the joint press conference with national coach Julian Nagelsmann

Musiala raves about the atmosphere

„I’m really very happy. It really feels like I haven’t been here for a very long time,“ explained the Bayern professional

He was immediately impressed by the atmosphere within the team in particular: „The first few days were great, the atmosphere in the team, the group is great – I’m really enjoying it here,“ Musiala emphasized

The attacking player also made it clear that he has noticed a positive development within the team and that the intensive preparation for the World Cup makes him optimistic

„I think, as Julian has already said, we’re going through a few things in preparation now until the tournament starts. Then we’ll be ready,“ explained Musiala

The last step is still missing

In sporting terms, the Bayern star is still on his way back to his absolute best form. Although Musiala has already shown many positive signs in recent weeks at FC Bayern, his usual ease and efficiency in front of goal have not yet fully returned

In particular, his finishing power and the final consistency in one-on-one situations were still lacking at times, but the international impressed with his great commitment, willingness to run and significantly improved robustness in tackles

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has also emphasized several times recently that Musiala will gradually return to his former level. The World Cup could now be just the right time to take the final step in his development

A successful tournament would also be a positive signal for FC Bayern, who are hoping that Musiala will start the preparations for the 2026/27 season with renewed confidence after the difficult past few months

The conditions seem to be right at the moment, with Musiala looking fit, motivated and, above all, enjoying soccer again.
