“We’ve had a two-week break, so we need to ease ourselves back into it,” said Kovac in a media round. After a pep talk at the start of the session and a warm-up programme, the ball came into play: various passing and heading exercises were on the agenda. The session ended with a game. Getting used to the ball was the focus of the first session.
The goalkeepers completed their programme on a side pitch. The injured Waldemar Anton and Aaron Anselmino also completed individual training sessions. While the coach is hopeful that Anton will be able to return to team training on Saturday, Anselmino will have to wait a little longer. “He still needs a few days. I hope he’ll be ready by the weekend. But we won’t rush anything or take any risks, because we’ve seen how important he can be,” said the coach.
After training, the fans got their reward when the players gladly signed autographs and posed for selfies. (cr)
