A few months ago, hardly anyone outside of Africa knew the name Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. Now the 18-year-old is about to play in his first World Cup and is set to sign a long-term contract with FC Bayern. The Senegalese’s development is one of the most remarkable stories of recent months at Säbener Straße
As reported by Senegalese journalist Khadim Diakhaté, Bayern have already agreed a five-year contract with Ndiaye, according to which the midfielder will be signed permanently after his loan year and will be tied to the record champions until 2031
Official confirmation is still pending, but there are increasing signs that the deal could be completed soon. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will have to pay a transfer fee for Ndiaye and, if so, how much
The next big success was not long in coming either: just two days after his debut for the Senegalese national team, Ndiaye was nominated for the 2026 World Cup by national team coach Pape Thiaw
This means that the 18-year-old will be taking part in the biggest tournament in world soccer just a few months after arriving in Europe
For Ndiaye, this is the culmination of a rapid rise that seemed almost unimaginable at the beginning of the year. The young midfielder found his way to Munich via the Gambino Stars Academy in The Gambia and Bayern’s Red&Gold Football network

However, his start at FC Bayern was anything but smooth, with several minor injuries and a training backlog making it considerably more difficult for him to settle in
There was also a particular challenge: due to FIFA regulations, Ndiaye was not allowed to play for the youth or amateur teams. This meant that the only option was to play for the professional team
Vincent Kompany nevertheless made a conscious decision to gradually introduce the Senegalese player
After making his debut in the 5-0 win against St. Pauli, Ndiaye earned more minutes against Stuttgart before making his first appearance in the starting eleven in the spectacular 4-3 win in Mainz at the end of April and immediately impressed
His performances did not go unnoticed internationally either. His market value developed almost explosively. According to Transfermarkt, it rose from 300,000 euros to four million euros within five months. This corresponds to an increase of more than 1,200 percent
With his participation in the World Cup, this value could now increase significantly once again
The most exciting question now is what role Ndiaye will play at FC Bayern in the future. Internally, the Senegalese is seen as a long-term project. At the same time, his first appearances have shown that he already has the potential to compete at the highest level
The planned signing would therefore not only be a reward for his development, but also a clear signal from those responsible at Bayern. After Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof, Ndiaye could become one of the record champions‘ most exciting projects for the future
For now, however, the focus is on the World Cup, where the 18-year-old will get the chance to finally present himself on the international stage.
