Barcelona are in the market for a new striker, with preparations already under way for Robert Lewandowski to depart at the end of the season. Budget constraints point to a low-cost option over big names such as Julian Alvarez or Harry Kane. Fisnik Asllani added to the chatter by attending Saturday’s city derby.
According to MD, the 23-year-old shared images from Barcelona’s 2-0 win at Espanyol, watching as a supporter at the RCDE Stadium. The visit is likely unrelated to any move.
Barcelona’s interest in Asllani surfaced in October. He has six goals and two assists in the Bundesliga this season and is thought to be available for around €30m, a price point that appeals to sporting director Deco.
The club have yet to decide on a summer target and recent reports have cooled talk of any Barcelona-Asllani deal, with the Catalans said to be unprepared to move for the Kosovo international. He has also been linked with Bayern Munich.
While Asllani has shown promise, spending that fee on him would be a stretch in the current climate. Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong is rated at a similar figure and, having proved himself in La Liga, could be the more attractive option.
