Southampton’s revival under Tonda Eckert brought a 3-2 win over West Brom after a 3-0 half-time lead. According to Daily Echo, Saints are now the Championship’s second-top scorers with 21 in seven, behind only leaders Coventry City.

Adam Armstrong, 28, hit his 90th and 91st Championship goals to reach 11 for the season and lead the current chart. His 91 leaves him 12th all-time, and a century this campaign would lift him to eighth, with Billy Sharp on 130.

Eckert took over with Saints 21st, three points above the drop and 10 behind Preston in sixth. Six wins have dragged them into contention, briefly into sixth at 3-0 before QPR’s win nudged them back. He prefers to revisit the table in a couple of months, with 26 matches left and second place nine points away.

Starts have been blistering, with 15 first-half goals in seven games, but after the break it is six for and seven against. Birmingham and West Brom began second halves on top. Saints keep winning, yet staff accept the pattern needs attention.

Selection battles are minimal. Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Nathan Wood and Caspar Jander are ever-presents, while Jack Stephens and Josh Quarshie have rotated tactically, and Shea Charles is nearing a return. In goal, Gavin Bazunu aided West Brom’s first, then saved well, distribution impresses, yet command and clean sheets are still debated.
