Lazio are reportedly planning to sell at least five players whose contracts expire next June 2027, freeing up room for new arrivals.

Lazio Must Raise Funds by Selling Players

On Friday, it was officially confirmed that the club has been restricted to a net-zero transfer campaign. In other words, the Biancocelesti can only spend on new arrivals by generating transfer funds through fresh sales. Therefore, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani will be keen to start selling as soon as possible.

Three Players Left Lazio for Free

Lazio have already parted ways with Pedro, Elseid Hysaj, and Toma Basic, whose contracts expired at the end of the season, allowing the clubs to trim their wage bill. Nevertheless, none of these players yielded a transfer fee. On the contrary, nine players are currently running on contracts expiring next year, and selling some of them would be crucial for the team.

Alessio Romagnoli

According to Il Messaggero, Alessio Romagnoli could be the first to depart, as his next destination has already been determined. The life-long Lazio supporter had already bid the fans farewell, as he was expected to join Al-Sadd in January, but the transfer collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Nevertheless, the Qatari champions kept their promise to the defender by launching a new onslaught. The two clubs have an agreement in principle on a transfer fee worth circa €3.5 million.

Ivan Provedel

Lazio are also preparing to split paths with Ivan Provedel, who has already agreed personal terms with Inter Milan. The experienced goalkeeper is considered surplus to requirements, as Gennaro Gattuso would like to focus on Christos Mandas and Edoardo Motta. The Biancocelesti are eyeing a transfer fee of €4-5 million, but the Nerazzurri will try to drive the price down.

Pellegrini, Lazzari & Cancellieri

Another three Italian players are seemingly on their way out of Formello, but their next clubs remain shrouded in mystery. Luca Pellegrini has been linked with Como and Hull City, while Manuel Lazzari could join newly-promoted Monza. Finally, Matteo Cancellieri has suitors in Olympiacos, Fiorentina, Torino, and Parma.
