Jonathan Tah has triggered transfer speculation in recent months after confirming he is ready to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The German defender has been a rock-solid figure for Xabi Alonso’s side, helping them win the Bundesliga unbeaten and lift the DFB Pokal last season.

The German centre-back is known for his strength, positioning and leadership in defence.

Several Premier League clubs need a player of his quality. Here are five who should consider signing Tah this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have had a dreadful season, sitting 16th in the Premier League with 19 losses and 56 goals conceded.

Cristian Romero is reportedly eyeing an exit, which would leave Spurs needing a top-class replacement.

Tah can offer the defensive leadership Tottenham need. His presence could settle the team and provide the experience they lack.

Manchester United

Manchester United signed Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, but their defensive issues disappeared.

Lisandro Martinez is injury-prone, which has forced manager Ruben Amorim to constantly rotate players.

Tah would provide the stability and experience the Red Devils badly need. He could guide Yoro and plug the holes in United’s backline.

Newcastle United

Newcastle United are pushing to qualify for the Champions League and need to strengthen their defence to stay competitive.

The Magpies need fresh options with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar ageing and Sven Botman often injured.

Tah would add balance, depth and quality to their squad. He would fit well into Eddie Howe’s starting XI.

Chelsea

Enzo Maresca is expected to shake up Chelsea’s defence, which has looked poor for most of the season.

They have let in cheap goals and lack calmness when under pressure. Wesley Fofana has struggled with injuries, and his future at the club is unclear.

Signing Tah would give Chelsea a reliable and commanding figure in defence.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest may appeal to the German defender. Forest have shown ambition in the transfer market and could move for Tah.

While the German might prefer joining a bigger club, Forest’s exciting project under Nuno Espirito Santo could attract him.

If Forest secure European football, a move is not beyond the realms of possibility.
