Five young players to watch in the Premier League this season, from record-breaking teenagers to precocious powerhouses.

The 16-year-old made six league appearances last season, claiming a Premier League winners' medal, and will hope to build on that in 2026/27. Arsenal will not rush the precociously gifted teenager, but his talent means the Gunners will not be able to hold him back for long.

Brian Madjo - Aston Villa

Brian Madjo made his mark during the UEFA Super Cup final last week with the 17-year-old starring in defeat for Aston Villa. The Villans successfully won an appeal to allow Madjo to feature for the first team before his 18th birthday and the forward showed, instantly, that he's ready.

Madjo marked becoming the youngest-ever player to feature in the Super Cup with a goal against Paris Saint-Germain, and could have had a hat-trick in the process.

He bulldozed Willian Pacho and Marquinhos on occasion, going toe-to-toe with the back-to-back Champions League winners. It was the latest strike of a five-goal pre-season for Madjo, whose shown Unai Emery he's an option for the here and now.

Trey Nyoni - Liverpool

A real positive ofLiverpool's pre-season, Trey Nyoni had been expected to leave on loan, but appears to have impressed Andoni Iraola enough to remain at Anfield for the campaign.

The teenager has looked at ease in a deep midfield role, comfortable taking possession in tight areas and helping Liverpool avoid pressure to progress. The make-up of Liverpool's midfield looks uncertain, but Nyoni has put his hand up for minutes.

JJ Gabriel - Manchester United

JJ Gabriel is perhapsManchester United's worst-kept secret. From stepping up four age groups to make his u-18 debut, to training with the first-team squad at 15, Gabriel looks destined for a big future.

He was named Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season in 2025/26 after scoring 20 goals in just 21 league appearances for the Red Devils. A reminder, he doesn't turn 16 until October.

Luca Williams-Barnett

Roberto De Zerbi has not held back in his praise of Luca Williams-Barnett after the Spurs starlet impressed in pre-season.

The 17-year-old shone for the North Londoners on their pre-season tour and De Zerbi has said the midfielder has the potential to be a 'special' player.

"He is a precious diamond. We have to work on him in the final third and he must work hard on his physicality. I’ve worked with a lot of young players in my time and he’s a potentially special player,"
