Bale, who retired in 2022 at the age of 33, is now part of DAZN’s team covering the Club World Cup. While he doesn’t consider himself a full-time commentator, he enjoys sharing his opinions during big matches.

“I don’t miss football,” Bale said. “I’m enjoying life now. I just give my point of view during games. It’s nice to be back in football in some way after being away for a few years.

“I enjoy watching the big games, like PSG vs Real Madrid or the Champions League final.”

Bale also spoke about Real Madrid’s recent 0-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final. Despite the heavy loss, the Welshman defended his former club, pointing out that early mistakes cost them the game.

“It’s a tough result, but if Madrid hadn’t made those two early mistakes, the game could have been different,” Bale explained.

“When you’re 2-0 down against a top team, you have to take risks, and that makes things even harder. In knockout games, whether you lose 4-0 or 1-0, you’re out either way.”

Bale, who also spoke about Modric’s retiretment, remains confident in Real Madrid’s future, especially under Xabi Alonso.

The two shared a season together at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Bale believes Alonso has what it takes to succeed as the club’s manager.

“You can never count Real Madrid out. They’re always just one step away from being great again,” Bale said.

“With Xabi Alonso in charge, and given time, he can build a winning team. I’m still a Real Madrid fan, and I hope they lift more titles next season.”

Bale praised Alonso’s passion and work ethic. “Xabi is obsessed with football, and in this modern game, you need that.

He breathes football. We all saw what he did at Leverkusen. I’m sure he’ll do well at Madrid too.

“He’s only been there for four weeks. His challenge will be getting the stars to work together for the team while still showing their individual talent,” he concluded.
