Leicester City are braced for a hectic window after their return to League One, with Russell Martin set to take charge. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Enzo Maresca’s impending switch to Manchester City could aid recruitment. Five deals could advance this week.

Martin is expected to finalise his appointment soon, then attention turns to a sweeping reset of the squad. City want departures and arrivals quickly, and their stature should help attract Championship-level talent.

Conor Chaplin has left Ipswich after a loan at Portsmouth and, available without a fee, represents a major opportunity. He scored 35 League One goals across two seasons and would immediately bolster Martin’s attack.

Ex-Manchester United defender Sonny Aljofree, 21, is also available after 14 years at the club. With experience at Accrington Stanley and Notts County, he could add depth if, as expected, Leicester’s centre-backs move on.

Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, 24, was their promotion-season number one and is strong in possession compared with Jakub Stolarczyk. With two keepers already signed at St Mary’s, he could be prised out and fits Leicester’s profile.

On outgoings, Fiorentina are understood to be keen on Caleb Okoli, and a return to Italy appears possible. Leicester could bank a solid fee as part of a defensive shake-up.

Should Okoli depart, Max Alleyne is a candidate to replace him on loan. The 20-year-old made seven senior appearances for Manchester City and 17 for Watford last term, and, with Maresca expected to take over at the Etihad, regular football elsewhere could follow.
