In a World Cup year, Flaco López has begun impressively for Palmeiras, already the club’s leading scorer in 2026. According to Nosso Palestra, the Argentine forward is among the early standouts in the squad.
Across five appearances this year, he has three goals and two assists, a direct hand in five Palmeiras goals.
He found the net in Wednesday’s Campeonato Brasileiro opener on 28 January, a 2-2 draw with Atlético-MG at Arena MRV.
That form follows a prolific 2025, when he finished with 25 goals, placing him among Brazil’s leading scorers and earning two call-ups for Argentina. With the World Cup on the horizon, expectations around the striker continue to grow.
Even with that prospect, he has stressed in recent interviews that his priority remains Palmeiras, though he did not hide a smile when the World Cup was mentioned.
Palmeiras visit Botafogo-SP on Sunday 1 at 20:30 Brasília time in the sixth round of the Campeonato Paulista’s first phase. They then host the second round of the league on Wednesday 4 at 21:30 Brasília time at Allianz Parque.
