Flaco López scored to give Palmeiras a 1-0 first-leg lead in the Campeonato Paulista final on Wednesday at Arena Crefisa Barueri, a result that offers a chance to turn the page on a difficult 2025.
According to Globo.com, the Argentine forward said the priority is to win the title and take only the positives from last season.
He reflected that he has fulfilled many dreams at Palmeiras, yet there are always more trophies to chase and they compete to win. Last year is one they are trying to leave behind, keeping what was good and moving forward with full commitment this season.
López also addressed the final itself, suggesting the media had underestimated Novorizontino, a rival he believes must be respected for their 2026 Paulistão campaign.
The striker is chasing a sixth trophy with the club. He has already lifted the Brasileirão in 2022 and 2023, the Paulistão in 2023 and 2024, and the Supercopa do Brasil in 2023.
The return leg is on Sunday at 20:30, Brasília time, at Estádio Jorge Ismael de Biasi in Novo Horizonte.
