Flamengo have agreed a contract extension with left-back Alex Sandro until December 2027. According to Coluna Do Fla, the new deal keeps the defender at the club.

The agreement was reached last week, with the updated terms adding one year to his existing contract.

There had been uncertainty over his future due to the heavy domestic schedule in Brazilian football. He considered options in other markets, but will remain with Flamengo.

Alex Sandro joined in 2024 and quickly became first-choice at left-back. He won the Copa do Brasil in his first season, then lifted the Libertadores and the Brasileirão the following year.

His performances and leadership have maintained his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squads. He was included in the most recent list and has been called up for the World Cup.

He will miss Flamengo’s next match as he is already with the national team. The side face Coritiba at the Maracanã on Saturday (30) in the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 16:00 Brasília time.
