Flamengo have been named among five finalists for the 2026 Ballon d’Or Club of the Year, organised by France Football and UEFA. According to Coluna Do Fla, the shortlist was revealed on Tuesday, placing the Brazilian side alongside heavyweight European clubs and a Nordic surprise.

Flamengo’s case rests on a landmark 2025 under Filipe Luís, delivering the Campeonato Carioca, Supercopa do Brasil, Brasileirão and the Copa Libertadores. It was their third Libertadores in six years and fourth overall, plus a ninth national title, sealed by beating Palmeiras in the final.

On the global stage, they topped their Club World Cup group in the United States and beat Chelsea, before going out to Bayern in the round of 16. They also drew 1-1 with PSG in the Intercontinental Cup final, then lost on penalties.

The Club of the Year has run since 2021, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG previous winners. The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is in London on 26 October.
