Flamengo and Guerrero reach confidential deal to end eight-year legal battle | OneFootball

Flamengo and Paolo Guerrero have told the Rio de Janeiro courts they have reached a confidential agreement to end litigation spanning eight years. The actions totalled around R$ 2 million.

ESPN first reported the closure. A petition to terminate the proceedings was filed on Monday, signed by Flamengo lawyers Michel Asseff Filho and André Oliveira de Meira Ribeiro, with the settlement amount kept under wraps.

Flamengo had sought R$ 200,000 for moral damages and R$ 1.8 million to cover costs during the 120 days Guerrero was suspended for doping. The initial action also named the Peruvian federation.

More recently, Guerrero argued in court that the club was seeking revenge for his move to Internacional in August 2018. He left after a controversial case that brought a 14-month ban from the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a positive test for a cocaine metabolite, though he later obtained a stay that allowed him to return.

For Flamengo he played 115 matches and scored 43 goals, winning the 2017 Carioca. At Internacional he made 72 appearances and scored 32, without titles.
