Flamengo approved on Tuesday night a statute amendment, proposed by president Bap, tightening eligibility for its elections by extending the ban on officials of other clubs and introducing a 12-month quarantine.

According to Globo.com, the Deliberative Council passed the measure by 409 votes to 111, with 15 abstentions.

Articles 77 and 54 already barred officials from clubs that face Flamengo in official competitions, in professional football or rowing, from serving in the club's governing bodies at Gávea.

The amendment widens that rule to anyone who, even via intermediaries, holds roles that grant decision-making or management power at another sports association or SAF, in Brazil or abroad, including investors, shareholders, partners, executives or board members, paid or unpaid.

It also treats as investors or managers any member who provides financial support to another club or SAF, directly or through a company in which they have any stake, whether as loans, advances, guarantees or other funding, even if occasional, free or informal.

The bar will end after 12 months from the member's formal and proven departure from the other entity, the full sale of any direct or indirect participation, and the end of any economic, financial or management links.

An earlier draft had sought to include notorious supporters of other clubs, but the wording was revised in recent weeks before the vote.
