Flamengo are awaiting Plata’s return after his move to Dynamo Moscow collapsed. The Ecuadorian forward is likely to miss Remo on Sunday in the Brasileirão, and could return against Independiente del Valle in the Conmebol Libertadores.

He has left Russia and is returning via a European stopover, with Flamengo expecting him to report on Friday or, at the latest, Saturday. The club said in a statement that he will be reintegrated into the squad.

He has not trained since 28 August, when he bade farewell to team-mates at Ninho do Urubu, and has not carried out physical work while he was away. Given the travel and lack of training, he is unlikely to be named to face Remo.

In this context, a possible comeback is being targeted for the quarter-final in Quito against Independiente del Valle. He will be assessed by the medical and coaching staff, and any selection will rest with head coach Leonardo Jardim.

After the win over Mirassol, team-mates Paquetá and Samuel Lino welcomed his unexpected return, praising his quality and popularity and expressing hope he can help in the run-in.
