Flamengo could be without the Maracanã for over a month in 2027, as the CBF works on a calendar to protect clubs handing over stadiums for the Women’s World Cup. According to Coluna Do Fla, the plan aims to prevent lost home advantage and matchday revenue. Brazil hosts the tournament from 24 June to 25 July 2027.

FIFA requires exclusive access to venues before and after matches, creating a scheduling challenge. The CBF intends to pause national competitions during the tournament, aligning stadium blackouts with that break.

Because handovers start earlier, each arena would become unavailable sooner, with fixtures reshuffled to keep clubs as hosts without using their grounds. The Maracanã must be at FIFA’s disposal from 10 June as it hosts the opening match on 24 June.

Eight stadiums will host matches, each with different unavailability windows. They are the Maracanã, Neo Química Arena, Mineirão, Beira-Rio, Arena Fonte Nova, Arena Castelão, Arena Pernambuco and Mané Garrincha. The tournament features 32 teams and 64 matches across eight cities.

Clubs face drawbacks if forced to move, from reduced crowds to lower matchday income. Corinthians, Internacional, Cruzeiro and Ceará have yet to define alternatives should dates clash.

Any emergency switch is complicated by the requirement that Série A venues have validated semi-automated offside technology installed. Clubs await the full 2027 calendar to gauge which fixtures might be affected, while the CBF seeks to limit disruption.
