Flamengo’s search for a new centre-forward has hit a setback, with Cruzeiro reluctant to discuss a deal for Kaio Jorge.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Cruzeiro will do everything not to lose him to Flamengo, with the sides due to meet in the Libertadores last 16. The club do not wish to strengthen a direct rival.
Flamengo tried to sign the striker in January 2026, tabling a €30 million, R$188 million, offer that was rejected.
With a centre-forward still a priority, a renewed move for Kaio Jorge in the second half of 2026 cannot be ruled out. The club want a forward to compete with Pedro, their number 9.
The second 2026 transfer window runs from 20 July to 11 September, giving Flamengo close to two months to strengthen for the run-in.
The first leg of the last 16 is set for the week of 11 August with Cruzeiro at home. The return follows in the week of 20 August at the Maracanã, and the competition will pause for about two months for the World Cup.
