Flamengo overcame a myriad of absences on Wednesday as they earned a 3-1 victory over Juventude.
Scorers: Kenedy 12′, Pedro 26′, Andreas 35′; William Matheus 57′
Both of Flamengo’s big-name loan signings came through in a big way as both Kenedy and Andreas marked their account in the first half on either side of Pedro’s 26th-minute strike.
Kenedy’s first goal in a red and black shirt came just 12 minutes into the contest as he and Pedro combined on a spectacular piece of interplay that the Chelsea midfielder finished off in some style.
Pedro would score a goal of his own 14 minutes later, tapping home a well-guided cross from Michael into the empty net.
Andreas Pereira would give Flamengo a three-goal lead with an incredible free-kick from long range that went in off the bottom of the crossbar in the top corner, sending the Maracanã into a frenzy.
William Matheus would prevent Diego Alves from claiming a clean sheet in the 57th minute but it wasn’t enough as Flamengo claimed their 14th win of the Brasileirão campaign.
Flamengo nearly cut their deficit to eight points but Atlético Mineiro stormed back with three late goals to overcome Santos 3-1.
