Flamengo have moved for Sport prospect Zé Lucas as the second transfer window opens on Monday 20. The club face competition for the midfielder.

Lance! reports that Cruzeiro have also shown interest after talks with Sport officials, while Brighton, Real Betis, two French teams and a Russian club are monitoring the situation.

Zé Lucas has been left out of Sport's next Série B matches while negotiations continue. The step is intended to protect all parties, with responsible, transparent updates to follow.

An academy graduate, he made 34 appearances in 2025 and stood out despite the club's relegation. He featured for Brazil's under-17s, playing at the 2025 Under-17 World Cup and making 13 appearances.

This season he has 23 games for Sport, with no goals or assists. Flamengo are in talks with three players for the next window, with Atlético de Madrid midfielder Thiago Almada the only name made public.

A new holding midfielder is not a priority, but the board view the addition positively. The plan is for Zé Lucas to join the under-20s first, then step up if he performs. Flamengo visit Chapecoense on Wednesday 22 at Arena Condá, 21:30 Brasília time, in round 19 of the Brasileirão.
