Flamengo’s push for a new striker has hit two obstacles after Cruzeiro rejected a sale of Kaio Jorge.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club want a ready-made signing who can be available to play and make an immediate impact, yet they are pursuing a loan with an option or obligation to buy.

The R$ 260 million purchase of Lucas Paquetá has tightened funds, so Flamengo are looking to take a forward on loan now and complete a purchase only in the next window.

The second challenge is sourcing the profile requested by coach Filipe Luís, a forward with high mobility and a striker’s instinct. Kaio Jorge was the priority target, but Cruzeiro refused to sell.

While the search continues, focus turns to Sampaio Corrêa in the Carioca, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã on Saturday, 7, in the sixth round of the state competition.
