Flamengo, Fluminense and Palmeiras win, Corinthians held as Libertadores returns next week | OneFootball

The Copa Libertadores quarter-final first legs wrapped up on Thursday 10 September. Fluminense and Palmeiras won earlier in the week, Flamengo also claimed victory in Quito, while Corinthians were held.

On Wednesday 9 September Palmeiras beat LDU 1-0 at Nubank Parque, Giay netting. The second leg is Wednesday 16 at 19:00 Brasília time at Estádio Casa Blanca in Ecuador.

Also on Wednesday, Corinthians drew 1-1 at Estudiantes in La Plata after an early setback. Kaio César equalised, Alexis Castro scored for the hosts. The decider is Wednesday 16 at 21:30 at Neo Química Arena, any draw taking it to penalties, with the winners to meet Flamengo or Independiente del Valle.

On Thursday 10 September Flamengo won 2-0 at Estádio Olímpico Atahualpa, near 3,000 metres in Quito. Leonardo Jardim’s side resisted first-half pressure, then Bruno Henrique and Léo Pereira struck after the break. The return is Thursday 17 at 21:30 at the Maracanã, Flamengo able to lose by one, a two-goal defeat forcing penalties, Independiente del Valle needing three to advance outright.
