Flamengo given day off after 1-0 Recopa first-leg loss to Lanús

Flamengo were given a scheduled day off on Friday after a 1-0 first leg defeat to Lanús in the Recopa Sul-Americana on Thursday, amid an inconsistent start to the season.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the break had been planned, so the result did not change the programme. The squad have only Saturday 21 to prepare for Madureira on Sunday 22.

Flamengo face Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca semi-finals on Sunday 22 from 20:30 Brasília time.

With a 1-0 lead from Argentina, Lanús can secure the Recopa with a draw at the Maracanã. A one-goal Flamengo win would take the tie to penalties, while a margin of at least two is needed to clinch the title in normal time. More than 50,000 tickets have been sold in advance.

The return leg is on Thursday 26 at the Maracanã from 21:30 Brasília time, with coverage on ESPN and via Disney + streaming.
