Flamengo given Thursday off after Internacional draw, weekend training scheduled | OneFootball

Flamengo have a rest day on Thursday after their 1-1 draw at Internacional on Wednesday, with training to resume on Friday. The squad returned to Rio de Janeiro from Porto Alegre overnight.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Thursday’s break was part of the pre-set plan. The group will train at CT Ninho do Urubu at 10h Brasília time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Leonardo Jardim’s side failed to impose themselves before Vitinho put the hosts ahead on 27 minutes. Internacional created the clearer chances in the first half.

Flamengo saw more of the ball after the interval but still struggled to trouble goalkeeper Matheus Cunha. Samuel Lino levelled on 34 minutes after a scramble in the Internacional box.

They are not back in action until 9 August, when they face Vitória at the Maracanã at 19h30 Brasília time. The 10-day gap reflects the Copa do Brasil last-16 first legs, with Flamengo already out.

The draw increased the gap to leaders Palmeiras from three points to eight. Palmeiras have 47 points, with Flamengo second on 39 after Palmeiras beat Vitória.
