Carlo Ancelotti has named Samuel Lino and Pedro in Brazil’s squad for three friendlies in the next FIFA window, with Flamengo praising and congratulating the pair on social media.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the club called the selections fair and celebrated both forwards online. Pedro later thanked Jesus on Instagram.
It is Brazil’s first call-up list since the 2026 World Cup, one that did not include either player. Ancelotti’s decision signals their return to the Seleção cycle.
Pedro has recorded 246 appearances, 133 goals and 34 assists for Flamengo across the past five seasons, averaging 49.2 matches, 26.6 goals and 6.8 assists per campaign.
Lino arrived as the most expensive signing in the club’s history. After an uneven start and criticism from supporters, the No 16 has found form, including a brace in the win over Botafogo.
Brazil face Australia on 25 September at Queensland Country Bank in Townsville, then meet the same opponents on 29 September at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The third game is on 3 October against India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.
Uruguay, Italy, Colombia and Ecuador have yet to release their September lists, so Arrascaeta, Varela, De La Cruz, Jorginho, Jorge Carrascal, Gonzalo Plata and Anthony Valencia are not yet confirmed.
With Pedro and Lino available, Flamengo visit Independiente del Valle in Quito on Thursday 10, at 21:30 Brasília time, in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa.
