Flamengo handed Thursday off after Libertadores win and return travel

Reigning champions Flamengo began their 2026 Libertadores with a 2-0 victory over Cusco at altitude on Wednesday. The squad were granted a day off on Thursday.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the delegation had two flights on Thursday morning, arriving in Rio only in the afternoon. The second and final leg was scheduled for 11:15, Brasília time, from Arequipa to Galeão.
Bruno Henrique opened the scoring, then Arrascaeta doubled the lead to secure a 2-0 win.
The result put Flamengo top of Group A overnight, with Independiente Medellín and Estudiantes drawing 1-1 in Colombia. Group A then read: Flamengo three points, Estudiantes and Independiente Medellín on one, Cusco zero.
The squad are due back at Ninho do Urubu on Friday, with Leonardo Jardim leading training from 10:30, Brasília time.
Attention turns to the Brasileirão, as Flamengo face Fluminense on Saturday in round 11, kick-off 18:30 at the Maracanã. The match will be shown exclusively on Premiere’s pay-per-view.
