Flamengo will complete preparations in Argentina with a Wednesday training session at Boca Juniors’ Casa Amarilla ahead of Thursday’s Recopa Sudamericana first leg against Lanús.

According to Globo.com, the squad arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night and Filipe Luís will take a final look at his options. The coach is without midfielders Jorginho and Saúl, and forward Wallace Yan.

Casa Amarilla sits beside La Bombonera and is now largely used by the women’s team, with the men rarely training there. Claudio Úbeda led a surprise men’s session at the complex last year, the first since 2019, as the senior side usually works at Boca Predio de Ezeiza.

Opened in 1995, the centre has two professional pitches, one natural and one synthetic, plus dressing rooms, a medical department and on-site accommodation. Since 2012 its official name has honoured former president Pedro Pompilio, who led the club between 2007 and 2008. It also houses youth players.

Flamengo have used the facility in recent years, including in 2022 before facing Vélez in the Libertadores semi-final.

Boca are redeveloping the site into a high-end multi-sport base. Plans include a mini stadium for more than 3,000 fans to watch basketball, futsal, volleyball and handball, plus a new state-of-the-art gym.

In December a new drainage system, the same technology as La Bombonera, was installed on the pitch Flamengo will use. Recent months have also brought upgrades for the women’s team, including a modernised structure and a new high-spec kitchen.
