Flamengo are exploring the possibility of signing Juventus winger Douglas Costa.
Costa’s loan spell with Série B side Grêmio is set to be terminated as the club look to cut costs having recently been relegated.
However acquiring the Brazi’ international could be complicated.
The 31-year-old’s agreement with Grêmio stipulated that the player cannot join another team in Brazil, according to Rádio Guaíba reporter Rafael Pfeiffer.
The termination of the agreement is said to have been amicable, opening the door for Flamengo to negotiate with the winger although it is understood that a deal won’t be easily reached.
Costa is said to prefer a move within his native country as he fights to get back into the Seleção set-up ahead of the Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
Flamengo will face competition for the player, as ESPN have reported that LA Galaxy are also keen to avail of his services.
