Flamengo begin their Conmebol Libertadores quarter-final away to Independiente del Valle on Thursday at 21:30 Brasília time at Estádio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito, Ecuador, where the altitude is 2,850 metres. According to Globo.com, Leonardo Jardim is weighing his line-up to balance physical load with the conditions.
The inclination is to field the strongest available side, though the altitude is being factored into starting selections.
Plata is back in the squad after a failed move to Dínamo Moscou, of Russia, and a few days in Dubai, and is likely to be available to face his former club.
Everton Cebolinha has been released to finalise a move to Santos and will not play for Flamengo again. Lorran has returned to Brazil for under-20 commitments.
Evertton Araújo, carrying a left thigh muscle injury, did not travel and is set for a longer absence. Left-back Alex Sandro was also omitted, continuing field work with the fitness staff after pain in his right calf.
Probable XI: Rossi, Emerson Royal, Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz, Ayrton Lucas, Pulgar, Jorginho, Arrascaeta or Paquetá, Carrascal, Samuel Lino, Pedro or Bruno Henrique.
The tie will be settled next week at the Maracan.
