Flamengo face Botafogo on Sunday in the 25th round of the Brasileirão at the Maracanã, kick-off 16:00 Brasília time, and have named 17-year-old Josmar in the squad.

According to Coluna Do Fla, this is the forward’s first senior call-up, opened by Bruno Henrique’s suspension and the departures of Gonzalo Plata to Dynamo Moscow and Wallace Yan to Bragantino.

Born in Recife, Josmar stood out for Avaí’s first team last year, prompting Flamengo to pay R$ 3.5 million. A left-footed centre-forward, he has impressed in the academy and is seen as a leading prospect.

Winger Everton Cebolinha is also included. Virtually out of the club’s plans given he will not renew his contract at the end of the year, his involvement, like Josmar’s promotion, owes much to recent absences.

Alex Sandro, Vitão and De La Cruz remain out while completing physical transition after recent issues, aiming to be available against Mirassol on Wednesday at the Maracanã.

The clássico will be shown by Globo across most of Brazil, except São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Maranhão. Premiere pay-per-view and GETV on YouTube will also broadcast the match.
