Flamengo are not interested in signing Memphis Depay, despite a frustrating transfer window. According to Coluna Do Fla, the club are not among Brazilian sides pursuing the forward after two targets did not progress.

GE reports that four Série A clubs involved in South American competitions have contacted Depay’s representatives, after Corinthians chose not to renew his deal.

Depay initially had an agreement to extend with Corinthians, but the club opted against meeting some of his demands. He is now open to joining a Brazilian team.

He felt disrespected by members of Corinthians’ board. He also felt the club did not value the effort he made to get a renewal over the line.

Depay leaves after 79 appearances and 20 goals, winning three trophies, the Paulistão, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa do Brasil. His contract expired on 31 July this year.

Without interest in Depay, Flamengo remain alert to opportunities. The window opened on 20 July and closes on 11 September, and the club are working to address priority gaps.

Flamengo remain focused on the Libertadores. They visit Cruzeiro for the last 16 first leg on Wednesday 12 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte.
